Here are all of the passages in the Bible where Jesus said anything about homosexuality:
Yup, that’s all of it. Jesus had a lot to say about a lot of things, but the only thing he ever said about sexual conduct was divorce is sin, except for the cause of infidelity, and that anyone who gets a divorce and re-marries is guilty of adultery, and so is their new spouse. There are many time more divorced and re-married people than gay people, so why aren’t all the good Christians who love to mind other people’s business making noise and scapegoating for dollars about it? And fornication– oh my gosh, if I had a dime for every fornicator I would be the wealthiest person on the planet. But that doesn’t bother our good morality police either. Christian bakeries make wedding cakes for adulterers and fornicators every day, and Christian photographers record their weddings, and these dastardly adulterers and fornicators get married in churches, with the blessings of clergy and congregations.
I’ve had the fun of coping with anti-gay bigotry all my life. If I could remove all the sources of misery in my life except for religion, I would hardly notice the difference. When your religion causes you to mistreat people, when you think your religion is about judging and minding other people’s business, then both you and your religion stink.
I’m getting married to my girlfriend this weekend, which is very exciting and happy, and for the most part the response from friends has been wonderful. From family, not so much, and a few people close to me are all tied in knots because of their beliefs. Sorry chums, but when your beliefs are more important than the real living breathing people in your lives, that is pretty damn sad.
